This can apply for whatever you decide to pursue, however, when it is your passion, there is an added pressure to excel in it, which with hard work and perseverance you will achieve.
The Added Pressure
The moments leading up to you choosing your passion are filled with doubting yourself, fear of disapproval from your parents and being outcasted by your family, fear of being mocked and belittled by your friends etc. These feelings intensify when you choose your passion, as you have gone against the people you love in order to achieve your dreams, this creates an added pressure. This pressure you put on yourself is due to the fact that you want to prove anyone who doubted you choosing your passion wrong, you want to show them that you made the right choice and you want them to take back their words; this is why you have to be the best you can at it. The cold truth is, no one remembers someone average, therefore you can't settle for mediocrity, you have to strive to be great at your passion. Whether you chose to be a basketball player, or whether you chose to be a teacher, you have to be the best at it and you have to be different. Once the people that doubted you see that you are better off pursuing your passion and that you were right, they will admit that you made the right choice and acknowledge your success, if not, find peace in knowing that you did nothing wrong.
Whatever you do in life, strive to be great at it, that is how true success comes to you.
