In all of its minutiae, every project that I take on myself contributes to something that will now take too long.

This lesson is coming late to me. I preach it to our CEOs, but I am terrible at it myself.

I think: "I'll get this done myself. It will be faster that way."

I am involved in many projects, so the decision to take it on myself is a decision to give the project a slow cadence because I will be distracted by other things.

My new discipline

Like everything that needs to be done well, someone needs to own it.

My new discipline is to force myself to write down the person that owns the project. That means that they are both accountable for delivering it and have the agency to act.

I am already learning how often I try to write my name in that field.
