All my life I have used Windows on my personal PC. My work laptop is a Macbook.

Since I use my keyboard for most of the tasks I perform, my muscle memory is trained on certain key-combinations from Windows. I cannot let my productivity go down because of the switch.

I use these tools on Mac to help me manage my productivity without losing muscle memory:

1. Presbutan

One of my biggest pet peeves with the Finder app on macOS is that when you select a file and press Return, you will get to rename a file and not open it.

Presbutan does only one thing - it re-configures my keymap so that when I press return it opens the file/folder.

2. AltTab

This program lets you use Alt+Tab to switch applications, just like Windows.

You can also configure it to behave more like Windows - like showing all windows of the same process, hiding closed (not quit) applications, and so on.

3. Karabiner Elements

For any other keymap which is missing, I set it using Karabiner Elements. It lets you re-configure any keyboard shortcut on your Macbook.

It lets me use Cmd+Tab to cycle through tabs in the browser instead of Ctrl+Tab.

One thing to note is that I use an external keyboard where I have mapped the Ctrl key in the keyboard to the Cmd key on the Mac keyboard and Alt to option.

If you end up using these tools, let me know what you think!
