I subscribe to so many newsletters that I don't have enough hours to read them all.
Fortunately, my twice-a-year 30-day 'unsubscribe' challenge mostly eliminates the e-commerce updates cluttering up my inbox. These normally result from my teenager asking me to buy the latest fashion items online. Goodbye newsletters that open with "Hey Babe!". (Secretly my ego is a little sorry to see those go...)
While many newsletters miss the mark, there are 3 that I love seeing in my inbox.
1. Dave Harland - The Word
Dave is the most entertaining copywriter I know. Sure, he's a bit sweary but I actively look forward to his fortnightly newsletter and normally read some hilarious part of it out loud to my husband—who isn't even a writer! If you want a laugh, this is the one.
2. Ann Handley - Total Annarchy
Another fortnightly letter, Ann's newsletter is rich with entertaining stories about writing, words and marketing, while also being funny, personal and lighthearted.
3. August Birch
A self-confessed introvert, August shares funny, personal stories almost daily while building and sharing his digital offerings. He's a great example and inspiration to me about how to build an online business as a quiet and private person.
If you are at all interested in learning about storytelling and online marketing done with humour and connection, these 3 are well worth your time.
