My experience of CFS is as a severe form of burnout.
Burnout so thorough, that both your body and mind are ravaged. Yet, as traumatizing as the condition is, I've learned a lot from the experience.
Here are some takeaways:
Takeaway #1: When you won't admit to hurting, you can't heal the hurt. Admission comes first.
Takeaway #2: Safety and belonging are the cornerstones of life. Those must be in place before you can grow any further.
Takeaway #3: Don't make the mistake of thinking only with your head. Your feelings are a very important compass through life. Think things through, but then allow your feelings to be the current that guides you.
Takeaway #4: Our lives intersect and connect in deep ways. This means that no one is irrelevant. Everyone has value.
Takeaway #5: Establishing a connection to your inner self is so important. It will ground you and help you see what's important.
Takeaway #6: Difficult experiences bring out both the best and the worst in people. Stick with the ones who brighten your life and help lift your load.
One of the magical things about life is that we continue to learn and grow, no matter our circumstances.
