Today is the last day of the Ship30for30 January cohort.
The last 30 days have been one helluva journey where I went from occasionally publishing online to writing and publishing consistently every day for a month. This in itself was a huge win for me!
To reflect on this experience, I've asked myself 3 questions about the journey and I'm sharing my answers here to encourage you to do the same.
My aim is to do an overall evaluation, understand whether I reached my goals, and see what's next for me moving forward.
1. How was the overall experience? What is beneficial?
Absolutely! I'm now at a point where I truly enjoy my daily writing hour.
I used to consider writing and publishing scary and time-consuming activities that "I didn't have time for". I did write here and there but never consistently published it. Writing and publishing daily is now something I look forward to, and I have a process for doing it every day.
It's also given me a reason to consume other content with purpose. I'm actively looking for ideas that resonate with me so I can write about them.
2. Did I achieve my goals?
Almost!
The good ✅
Created value on the internet by writing consistently for 30 days.
Connected with link-minded people for support and inspiration—though I could have done a better job here.
Sent out noise and learned from the signal—the essays that signaled honesty (vulnerable pieces) and credibility (tech pieces) created more trust and engagement from readers.
The bad ❌
Didn't write about tech as much as I wanted to—this wasn't entirely my fault since the community was not very focused on tech.
Didn't really find my tribe during this program mainly because I didn't have a clear plan for it.
3. What’s next for me?
Focus on creating value
Put more emphasis on tech by consuming and creating more content in this space and sharing my experience.
Occasionally write about other interesting ideas
