I have been creating courses since 2005.
In that time I've also helped others create courses both big and small.
And what do I recommend for beginners?
The Atomic Course Framework. It's what I wish I had when I was first learning to create courses.
Here's how it works:
Step 1: Choose a tiny topic
Why?
You're more likely to finish creating a tiny course on a tiny topic.
And your customers are more likely to finish consuming it too.
Step 2: Outline the what, why and how
These three questions form the backbone of any lesson teaching a skill. They create a smooth path for the customer from initial intimidation to implementation.
Step 3: Give examples
People struggle to use information when they haven't see how it's done. Tell them, then show them and they actually apply what they've learned.
When you're creating an Atomic Course, these three steps are all that matter.
Do them well and you'll create a course you can sell and which your customers will rave about.
