10 years ago, I would only use Windows logo key to open the Start menu.
I couldn't be more wrong. I've gone through general keyboard shortcuts, as well as specific keyboard shortcuts for my calendar, e-mail and notes app. That is, every day apps.
Let me introduce you some other keyboard shortcuts you may find useful.

Windows logo key (Win, from now on) is placed at one or both sides of your space bar. It's not just a mere decoration to remind you of the brand. It can be combined with almost any key for several utilities.
Following are the ones I use the most:
Win+L: Lock the screen
Win+D: show/hide the Desktop
Win+E: open file Explorer
Win+Direction arrows: arrange windows in 2 halves (left/right arrows) or up to 4 parts (left/right arrows, first, up/down arrows then)
Win+Up/Down arrows: maximize/minimize window
Win+I: open Settings
Win+M: Minimize all windows
Win+Shift+M: Restore minimized windows
Win+S: open Search
Win+Shift+S: partial Screenshot
Win+T: move along the Taskbar apps
Win+V: open clipboard history (if you do not have it activated, the first time it will prompt you to do so)
Win+.: open emojis panel
Win+Tab: open Task view
