Dad, why do they have the phones tied to the wall?
Our 16 year old son was about 3 or 4 when he asked us this question while watching a movie. Can't remember the movie, it's irrelevant, but it was set in the latter half of the last century. We had even known the time when having a telephone at home was a luxury in a small village.
For him, in a world of cell phones and cordless handsets, it was extravagant.

There was a time when computer was synonymous with preinstalled programs.
