We may think that our decisions are guided purely by logic and rationality, but our emotions always play a role.

Almost all options have their lights and shadows. And those who make a decision justify it, before or after making it, based on the benefits they perceive. Sometimes, beyond the objective impacts, it is important to feel good about what one has decided, as Salma Stockdale's above quote points out.

The same goes for those who choose (NOT) to use a productivity system.

5 benefits somebody using a productivity system will usually refer

1️⃣ Greater clarity on goals: better alignment of day-to-ay actions and long-term goals.

2️⃣ Better time management: better use of available time.

3️⃣ Reduced stress and anxiety: as a consequence of the previous ones, stress and anxiety levels plummet.

4️⃣ Increased task completion: a complete inventory of tasks to complete helps completing them over time.

5️⃣ Improved focus and decision-making: a systematic approach provides greater clarity in taking a decision about what to do and executing it.

5 benefits somebody NOT using a productivity system will usually refer

1️⃣ Flexibility to adapt to changes: no need to stick to rigid rules.

2️⃣ Ability to focus on spontaneous opportunities: more open to spontaneous, moment-to-moment choices.

3️⃣ No time wasted on maintaining a system: no system, no maintenance... more time for executing?

4️⃣ Freedom from rigid schedules: no pre-fixated schedules to follow.

5️⃣ Reduced pressure to adhere to productivity metrics: flexibility and adaptability at its best?

As a user of a productivity system, I don't think it equates to rigidity and inflexibility and vice versa, but these are the arguments on the table when considering the benefits of either option.

Decision is a sharp knife that cuts clean and straight; indecision, a dull one that hacks and tears and leaves ragged edges behind it. —Gordon Graham
