To resist the belief of our finite time, many initiate a large number of projects all at once, that way one gets busier and believes in making progress on all font.
Instead what usually ends up happening is that the person makes progress on no fonts - because each time a project gets complicated or tedious, he has the options available to jump onto a different one instead.
You can get a sense of being in control of all the projects, but at the cost of never finishing anything.
The alternative approach is to set a fixed upper limit on the number of projects you allow yourself to work upon at any given time.
Once you fixed the upper limit on how many to work upon, all other incoming projects would either have to wait until an ongoing project has been completed, thereby freeing up the slot.
This is one of the experts Oliver Burkman provides alongside many others in his book, "Four thousand weeks".
