Welcome to my Social Blog

How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie is the best book ever written on Interpersonal Relationships. It provides tried and true principles for Networking, Relationship Building, and Relationship Management.

If you've read it, then you know exactly what I'm talking about.

But if you haven't, here's why:

Reason #1: It helps us win over difficult people

Carnegie provides tons of stories illustrating how much goodwill we can gain from people, once we make them feel valued, heard, and understood. The book makes a compelling case for us to learn to control our tongues and tempers.

Reason #2: It shows us how to get what we want

Carnegie demonstrates that the best way to get what we want is to be of service to others. The more we bring value to others ➟ the more others are well-disposed toward us ➟ the more our circle of influence increases.

Reason #3: It shows you how to change people

Carnegie proposes very effective tactics to lead others along the path of (positive) change including praising instead of criticizing, encouraging, and getting them excited about making the change we want them to make.

Reason #4: It helps you grow in emotional intelligence and negotiating skills

Carnegie shares great insight into human psychology: people are emotional, the sweetest word to somebody's ears is their name, and people (mainly) only care about their own interests.

I can't recommend this book enough.
