I had a mini accident while riding the scooter with my mom.
While taking a turn, a car appeared out of nowhere.
I pulled the brake cable hard, skidded, and fell on the tarmac..
Luckily I was wearing a helmet when my head banged against the floor.

For a few seconds, life just turned upside down, moments froze and everything was in slow motion.
But I regained my senses and slowly rose to my feet.
I checked on my mother.
She was safe, as she jumped out right before the fall.

I attribute it to divine powers for it was the auspicious new year in the traditional calendar
One moment we were so excited to join in the festivities of Vishu.
And the next I was crashing on the floor and completely helpless.
Yes, we escaped without a scratch this time

But it reminded me in a loud tone, that it only takes one split second.
For life to go sideways
So it’s essential to be prepared for that any day.
All I can do is to be:
More aware of turns now
More accepting of our fragile nature
