In this essay I will be writing about the "DEAL" framework described by Tim in his book The 4 Hour Work Week. He often talks about the New Rich phonomenon and has laid down the steps of getting there.
New Rich includes the knowledge workers who work from anywhere, take on projects they like and do what they love to do, Take vacations, relax, reset and take on another project.
Now let's discuss the framework.
1. Define
Tim says if you want to be a part of the New Rich it's worth defining your fears, also defining your goals, defining what you actually want to do in life.
Fear is stopping us from trying out new things in life. Most of us would rather be happy than uncertain. Instead Tim suggests to choose uncertainty over unhappiness.
I will be writing another blog to describe Tim Ferriss's fear setting exercise.
Instead of thinking what makes us happy we should think of what makes us excited. This works while defining your ambitious goals and setting them accordingly.
2. Eliminate
The reasons we struggle to focus on the most important tasks is because we have too many distractions and things that take too much time, instead Tim suggests to Eliminate the things that take too much time and don't add value to our life.
Efficiency is not equal to Effectiveness
There are so many techniques which you can use to track your time and eliminate the unecassary stuff.
3. Automate
Tim talks about automating stuff that take much time and efforts and finding your muse ( less time more money) by building online business where you can work from anywhere, investing where you can make money while you sleep and so on.
4. Liberate
Setting yourself free from the work which you don't enjoy doing and have time to work on what matters for you, what you're most excited to work on and make money doing that.
One Quote from Tim:
"Waiting for someday will take your dreams to grave."
