3 Steps to Live a Healthier, More Enriched Life
Scott Taylor

I want to share three steps to living a healthier, more enriched life. These three steps are simple, and yet they can change your life. I call it the "Be The Tree" program because each step will help you attain a greater connection to plants, the earth, and nature.

Move your body.

  • What you eat matters.

  • How much you sleep matters.

  • The company you keep matters.

But what if I were to tell you that the single most important thing you could do for your health, happiness, and longevity is exercise? Exercise has been shown to improve mood, increase energy levels and help people lose weight (or maintain their ideal weight). It also combats chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease by improving the body's ability to process glucose (sugar) from food into energy that can be used throughout the day. In addition, regular physical activity improves immune function, which makes it easier for our bodies' cells—including those in our brains—to fight off infections or other diseases that may threaten us later in life.

Nourish yourself with whole foods.

You’ve heard it repeatedly: whole foods are better than processed ones. While that may seem like a no-brainer, plenty of people out there don’t know the difference between a whole food and a processed one. To determine which foods are healthier for you, consider what they look like in their natural state. If the food comes in an easily recognizable form (i.e., apples), then it’s probably good to eat; if it comes in an unrecognizable form (i.e., apple sauce), then you should avoid it unless you have no other option available to you at that moment!

Whole foods contain more vitamins and minerals than processed ones do because they haven't been stripped away by heating or chemicals during production—so eating them means getting more nutrients into your diet without having to worry about whether or not those nutrients will be destroyed later on down the line due to their poor storage techniques (which usually involves deep frying). Whole grains also take longer to digest than white bread because they're mostly made up of fiber—and since most people aren't getting enough fiber each day anyway (about 25 grams is recommended), switching over now could help prevent obesity down the road too!

Connect to your roots and the earth.

Connecting to nature can mean so many different things depending on your perspective, but at its heart, it’s about simply being outside and experiencing the world around you. From walking barefoot in the grass to going for a hike or taking a day trip to see some animals at the zoo, there are countless ways to connect with nature that can serve as an instant pick-me-up! Researchers have shown that spending time in nature has decreased stress levels, lower blood pressure, and even better sleep quality—and those are just a few benefits!

Live life by regularly moving, eating well, and connecting to plants and nature.

The three steps are simple enough to understand, but they’re hard to implement. The key is in the execution. You need to make a concerted effort to practice these principles daily. Try them out for yourself and see how it feels!
