This might sound like a get-rich-quick scheme, but these habits worked.
I woke up this morning feeling down and unmotivated, already looking forward to the day being over. How did I get here? The year started strong, and I suddenly found myself in a 5-day slump.
Luckily, I've been keeping a running list of practices I trust that help bring me back into alignment - and doing these 3 today healed me 🙏
1. Walking
This is probably my favorite on the list - because it ALWAYS works. I’m not kidding. Even in these New York winters, getting outside makes me feel at peace. Emotions are energy in motion, so walking is great for helping us move through and process how we’re feeling. It helps that trees aren’t judgy and live for the drama 💅
2. Eating food that loves me back.
I love to treat myself whenever I’m having a bad day.
The struggle is when bad days turn into bad weeks (or longer)… and then it’s been a minute since I’ve had a vegetable - or a beverage that isn’t Diet Coke. So today, I opted for my favorite greek salad (vegetables!!) with water (and a side of Diet Coke). It’s all about balance, and my body thanked me for it with an energy boost!
3. Journaling
One of the first tools I picked up in my healing journey was a blank notebook and my favorite gel pens from Muji. I'm obsessed with these pens (and have them in a zillion colors) - and were a huge motivator to start writing. On sh*tty days, my journal is a place to rest, to be creative, and to find an opportunity to pivot (if that feels good.)
By being curious and nonjudgemental about what’s been working (or not), I noticed I'd dropped these good habits and am now reprioritizing them. Thanks journal!
What works for you on 💩 days?
