Paul Rulkens has been a household name for many at least since his 2014 TED Talk. His insights on high performance are eye-opening. His book "The Power of Preeminence" is mandatory reading for anyone who wants to reach a new level of high performance. Here is the most important lesson I took away from his book:
"Motion beats meditation every time"
Good things happen to those who are in motion.
Yet we tend to remain in an "analysis paralysis" state. I, too, have missed many opportunities because of this. However, when we are constantly in motion, trying things out and engaging in new experiences, we give the world a chance to take notice of us.
This can open doors for us that we didn't even think existed before.
This is how you get started.
Every journey, no matter how great, begins with a first step.
Think about what goals you would like to achieve. Break the way there down into many small steps. And then get started.
Every action you take increases your chance of striking gold.
What to do when you have setbacks.
Setbacks are normal.
Yet we tend to give up too quickly. I believe it was the famous YouTuber Ali Abdaal who advised to try a new thing at least 100 times before making a judgment. So don't give up too soon.
And reward yourself for small successes along the way.
