There are many books on resilience. And I've read a lot of them. However, my favorite is "Rising Strong" by Brené Brown.
For a few reasons:
It reframes failure as the entry point to growth. So much better than using failure as proof that I'm weak or unworthy!
It emphasizes emotional honesty over emotional toughness. Resilience is naming what hurts, sitting with discomfort, and telling yourself the truth.
It gives a repeatable framework — the “Rising Strong process.” Best of all, it works in both personal and professional contexts.
It connects resilience to storytelling and meaning-making. Resilient people ask, “What’s the story I’m making up here?” That simple question helps separate fact from assumption and turns pain into perspective.
It blends research, real-life stories, and raw humanity. Reading it feels like a conversation with a wise friend.
If you are at all interested in resilience, I can't recommend this book enough.
(And if you've read it, do you agree? What other book would you recommend for beginners?)
