Teacher Career Change

Our journey from the classroom to where we are supposed to be.

How to Start Listing Alternative Careers for Teachers
Teacher Career Change

Many teachers are thinking of quitting their jobs but do not know where to start. Here are a few ways to start thinking of alternative careers for teachers that are not too far from their skill set or comfort level.

Change your work setting

Do you know that there are a lot of public and private K12 virtual schools? Maybe, you just need to be away from in-person teaching. Your salary might be smaller but you won't need to travel.

Change your organization/department

Find out what positions your district central office have. Figure out if you are qualified and apply for a related job. Look at the other government and non-profit organizations you worked with during your teaching tenure. Find which department just got a government grant that is related to your field. They might need somebody like you.

Pick your favorite job and expand it

Teachers do a lot of things. What among those jobs do you enjoy? I really loved creating lessons so I expanded it. I now sell my work via Teachers Pay Teachers and Amazon KDP. I also sell online courses. What about you? Do you love organizing? You can be an event manager. Think about it.

It begins with you

Career changing is really a journey within yourself. Start with changing only a few things in what you do. Or pick something you like and expand it. What do you want to do? List them. Find jobs that list those skills. There are more things to consider during a career change but it really starts with you.
