In 1999, I started a career as a personal trainer in Miami Beach.
I trained celebrities like Rober Downey Jr. and Ricky Martin. Parties at waterfront mansions and yacht trips were a weekly occurrence. It was the opportunity of a lifetime.
But after 19 years of living that life, I felt stuck.
So on February 13th, 2018 I moved to Bangkok, Thailand.
4 years later, I'm traveling the world, running my business online, getting better results for my clients, and feeling more fulfilled. But the journey was tough.
Here’s what those difficult years taught me about getting unstuck in life.
Lesson 1: Nothing Will Change Unless You Do
It took me 19 years to take action. But I knew I needed to do something different after 10 years. I thought something would change.
Nothing changed until I took action.
You must overcome your resistance to doing what you know in your heart you need to do.
Lesson 2: The More You Wait, The Harder It Will Be
The longer you wait to make a change, the harder it will be.
What starts out as suffering becomes normal after a while. Unhappiness and lack of purpose all become normalized.
The longer you wait to make a change, the more bad habits you'll have to break.
Lesson 3: You Will Regret Not Doing It Sooner
Looking back on making the move to Thailand, there's only one thing I regret.
I wish I had taken action sooner.
I felt like things would get better. So I kept suffering in the hopes that either someone would show up to help me or that something would change. But nothing happened.
I don't beat myself up about it. But if I could go back in time and talk to my younger self, I'd get him to take action sooner.
What's something in your life that needs to change but you haven't done it yet?
