Step 1: Change Your Goals
The first step is to stop setting results based goals.
Results based goals are goals you set around a specific result.
Here's the problem with that:
- You put that result on a pedestal
- They are not measurable

You run around chasing something that is both immeasurable and out of your control.
So what's the solution? Action based goals
Action based goals are actions you take everyday that get you closer to the result you want.
These are easy to measure and are in your control

Here's the difference:
Results based goal: Get in shape
Action based goal: Complete 220 weight lifting sessions this year
Start setting goals that are action based instead of results based.

Step 2: Figure Out The Way You Will Make Money
Ask yourself, "How am I going to make money?"
Don't know the best way to make money? Let's figure it out together.

You're going to want to pick a skill that meets these 4 criteria:
- Easy to learn
- Perceived as valuable
- Low barrier to entry
- Fits your personality
You want a skill that is easy to learn. The quicker you can learn it, the faster you can get paid.

The skill also needs to be perceived as valuable.
What you do needs to provide your customer with as much value as possible.
The higher the perceived value of a skill, the more you get paid for it.

Now some skills will require tools or an initial investment.
This is no bueno.
The skill needs to have a low barrier of entry.
The less you have to invest the better.

Finally the skill needs to fit your personality type.
Let's say you love to talk to people and hate sitting at the computer all day.
Does it make sense to pick coding as your skill? Of course not.
There is no one size fits all solution. Pick what suits you best

Step 3: Pick Your Skill
Now that you know the 4 criteria, it's time to pick your skill.
If you're already good at a skill by all means stick with it.
If you don't have a skill, I recommend picking one that is easy to learn.
That way are can get paid fast.

The 3 skills you should consider as a beginner are:
1. Copywriting
2. Sales
3. Ecommerce
And here are the best personality fits for those skills:
Copywriting = Logical
Sales = Anything but creative
E-commerce = Creative & analytical
Now its your turn to choose.

Step 4: Define Success & Set Your Goals
Now that you have your skill, you need to define what success looks like and set your goals.
Ask yourself, "What do I need to do in order to succeed with my skill?"

Let's talk about copywriting.
The best way to learn copywriting is by writing copy (shocker)
"But I don't have any clients yet, who do I write for?"
Pick 10-20 businesses you'd love to work with and start writing for them as if they were your client.

You can write any type of copy for them:
- Emails
- Ads
- Landing pages
- Captions
It doesn't really matter as long as your putting pen to paper.
"Great, but when do I get paid?"
With those pieces that you wrote, send them over to those businesses.

Pick the best ones you wrote and send them over for free.
Say something like this:
"Hey I love the work that you guys are doing and I decided to write a few [whatever copy you wrote] for you. Feel free to use them however you like."
Now you're getting paid to learn

Remember, we want to set action based goals.
So they should sound something like this:
- Reach out to 100 businesses per day
- Write 20 pieces of copy per day
- Study famous sales letters for 2 hours a day
Focus on the action, not the result.

Step 5: Create an Execution Plan
You now have a goal and to accomplish this goal, you need a plan.
If you are moving forward with copywriting, your plan should be to send out 1,000 pieces of copy before 2025.
Keep this clear in your mind as you work on your goals.
