It sounds crazy right - what do your feet have to do with Leadership?
The truth is, Leadership capabilities are impacted directly by our psychophysiology. It can actually have a larger impact on your success than any "leadership" courses that you take. In fact, 80% of "leadership development" fails completely, largely due to a Leader's psychophysiology.
Our feet are actually a REALLY important aspect of our psychophysiology.
Things like wearing bad shoes (over 75% of people by LIBERAL estimates, I'd estimate closer to 95%+) and not using our feet (common in sedentary cultures) can lead to a host of issues that will impact your leadership without you realizing it!
What's Impacted By Our Feet?
➼ Increased Physical Stress (All Stresses Add, Meaning You'll Be Less Able to Handle Work Stress)
➼ Increased Pain (77% of US Suffers From Painful, Debilitating Foot Conditions, Pain Activates Sympathetic Nervous System)
➼ Decreased Problem Solving (Due to SNS Activation)
➼ Decreased EQ (Due to SNS Activation)
➼ Decreased Mobility (Decreases Memory and Creativity)
➼ Decreased Neuron Use (Negatively Impacts Our Brain)
➼ Increased Desire to Be Sedentary (As Bad as Smoking for Health, Sickness Increases Stress)
➼ Increased Medical Visits (More Stress, Time Off Work, Increased Expenses)
This is a short list of the impacts, but it's crazy to think that these factors can all be mitigated or removed (and our Leadership Capabilities Increased) simply by changing our shoes!
Bonus: Shoes I Recommend
If you're looking for new shoes (that can indirectly aid your Leadership), I would recommend Xero Shoes.
These are the ONLY shoes I wear these days, and they are amazing. Super comfortable, and spectacular for your feet health. Plus, they have options for business professionals, as well as if you do 50k obstacle course races (like I do).
They actually are releasing their newest line of shoes, and I'm looking to pick up a pair of their Glenn shoes for work!
Plus, they are doing 20% off, so you can't really beat that!
Also, if you want to learn more about Xero Shoes' founder, Steven Sashen, you can go check out my podcast interview with him!
Steven is a really interesting individual. His background is definitely strange (you wouldn't expect him to get into the Shoe Industry). He's also incredibly intelligent, and completely against the grain!
He would also likely deny everything I just said about him (except maybe the strange part).
