Dis-Stress is something that is a problem all over the place.
Nearly 80% of people are in Burnout according to Deloitte.
There is something important to realize though.
Stress is not inherently bad.
All Stress can be Good, which is called Eustress.
Even things we typically think typically think of as "Bad" can actually have benefits in our lives.
However, All Stress Adds.
So, just as any Stress can be Good, any stress can also become Bad, or Dis-Stress.
The thing that is misunderstood so often with this is that there is a point when Adding Stress takes us from being in Eustress, into Dis-Stress.
Where is that point?
Well, that is the tough part.
That "point" actually moves based on different factors.
How well did we recover from the day before?
That will either increase or decrease that point.
Have we done any recovery during the day?
Certain types of recovery can lower overall stress at the moment, perhaps allowing us to maintain Eustress.
Have we healed any Stress Damage?
The technical term here is Oxidative Stress, and the key to this is "Heal".
There are many things that exist that "Reduce" Stress, but aren't actually "Healing" the damage.
How much energy do we have?
This has to do with our body's literal energy source, Mg-ATP.
In order to face Stresses and recover from them, it requires Energy (Mg-ATP).
If we have enough then we can handle more Stresses.
Otherwise we will be struggling with Stresses if we don't have enough.
How impactful was the Stress we experienced?
Sometimes, certain Stresses impact us at higher levels.
For instance, anyone that has PTSD can tell you that whatever set off their experience is an extreme level of Stress.
That will mean that you have less room with other Stresses because All Stress Adds.
So, as a Leader, it is really important to learn where we stand on any given day - how close are we to that border?
Knowing that for ourselves can be a huge tool allowing you to accomplish more than others think possible.
However, it also becomes an even stronger power for a Leader when they can learn to gauge that in others.
When you can see others in your team, and see when that border is close at hand, or even more so if it's been crossed, you can help people in so many ways.
