Vast, an aerospace startup founded in 2021, has announced to build and launch its first commercial space station, Haven-1.
They plan to launch Haven-1 no earlier than August 2025, alongside their first crewed mission, Vast-1.
The space station is planned to be put in orbit by Falcon 9, while the Vast-1 mission will be flown on Crew Dragon spacecraft.
Vast has not yet sold any of the four seats on Vast-1, but they opened the reservations and expect space agencies and private customers to book a seat on the mission.
Haven-1 will accommodate four people for up to 30 days, with science, research, in-space manufacturing opportunities, 150 kg of pre-loaded mass, and the option for lunar artificial gravity by spinning the station.
Haven-1 will also have a large window dome and onboard Wi-Fi.
The cost of the crewed mission is unknown, but based on the information about other Crew Dragon missions, we can expect a price tag of at least $55-60 million - or perhaps more, including the max. 30-day stay on Haven-1.
