The fastest way to get what you want is to face your fear.
The other night my middle son got called up to play with the local Jr B Team lacrosse team. His mom was taking him to the game so I called him from work to wish him luck. But the conversation turned ugly. He told me “ I dont wanna go”
me: “Why NOT this is a great opportunity”
My son: “I just dont want to go, I'm gonna stay home and work out instead”
You see, we’re all scared of something, Our ego tries to protect us. Our instinct is telling us to run and hide.
I knew this….
so , here’s what I told him.
“I’m coming home early from work and I’m throwing you and your shit in my truck and I’m driving you to the game myself. You might as well get in the car with your mom” and go to the game. See you at the game”
Then I hung up
The team lost. But it was a huge win. He played great, moved the ball and played physical.
I couldn't have been more proud of him. After the game he was pumped.
Sometimes we could all use a little push ……or a shove!
