I'm writing about how a clear mind can help leaders get better performance and bigger results.

The "Sunday Scaries" don't need to ruin your weekend. Here's how.

This is a feeling that many of us have experienced, and usually is related to work and the stories we tell ourselves about the coming week. It's perfectly normal.

Left unmanaged, it casts a cloud over our Sunday, and can interfere with our sleep.

The good news is that the feeling is scary by design.

It's just letting us know that we're doing scary thinking.

If "scary" felt good, then it would make sense for us to do it.

But it feels bad because no amount of scary thinking is going to make it feel any better. In fact, the more scary thinking we do, the more scary the world will look because we see the world as we are, not as it is. And when the world looks scary, we aren't seeing how it really is, so it's pointless.

It's just telling us to stop. And the sooner you notice and act, the easier it is.

Don't try and think positive thoughts. It won't work.

Just stop thinking about whatever was scaring you.

If necessary, release any sensations by closing your eyes, locate the sensations and notice how they change over the next 2 minutes as you continue to breathe.

And then go and do something else more enjoyable.

If you catch yourself starting scary thinking again, just stop it as soon as you notice.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
