Coding your own blog as a web developer is a horrible idea, if your goal is to start blogging.

I started my blog back in 2018. Naturally as a web developer the first thought was to code the blog myself. Luckily I chose not to code it myself and I hosted it on Wordpress instead.

I didn't realise it back then, but now I see it was a right decision.

If your goal is to write a blog, you should spend your time writing instead of coding the blog.

If I had started to code the blog myself, I would have spent a lot of time on coding rather than practicing the skill of writing. In the beginning of learning how to write, or any skill for that matter, it is super important to get practice through repetition and also experience wins through action to build momentum.

I did code my own blog years later, but by that time I had already established a writing routine and the goal at that time was to learn Next.js and how to build a functional blog application.
