They say practice makes perfect.
But when It comes to something like copywriting, the line can get blurry.
Back when I first started, I had no idea how to practice copywriting, and how to get the experience required to improve.
Luckily, I discovered 3 simple exercises anyone can use to start writing Copy right now(seriously, you could do these after reading this post)!
Here's how you can start writing copy right now:
Bullets
Bullets are everywhere.
Often referred to as fascinations, they're any bullet points, checkmarks, or boxes next to copy meant to get the reader excited about what you're selling.
If you're a complete beginner, bullets should be your best friend.
They force you to be persuasive, and clear, and to grab the attention of your readers and make them want what you're selling.
To practice bullets, I recommend reading the Screaming Eagle newsletter and then writing 50-100 bullets for the first product you see(on any Ad) using the formulas you've learned.
Spec Pieces
Spec pieces are just pieces of copy you write "on spec" for a business.
For example: Search up any of your interests, find a Blog post about them, read 4 more posts, and come up with a new Idea.
Once you have an Idea, write a blog post about it.
That's a spec piece, which you could even use to pitch that business later on!
You can also practice rewriting their copy and content if you're fresh out of Ideas.
Annotating Copy
One of the best exercises is just reading copy that works, and breaking it down.
By doing this, you find exactly what's working, and you get a better sense of the language of copywriting.
