In our Ultraspeaking session yesterday, we practiced analogies.

Analogies are great tools in communication and especially, storytelling.

An exercise we had to do was come up with an analogy for your job.

This is a fun exercise but can be tricky too. Coming up with an analogy on the spot can be challenging. We have to speak for a minute and as you see the timer winding down, there can be added pressure.

My analogy was my job is like a sandwich.

It has a top layer, middle filling and a bottom layer. The middle layers gets squeezed from the top and the bottom.

I am the middle filling.

The sandwich can be chewed from the top or bottom.

If the filling does not work, it can mess up the taste for everyone.

However, if the filling is made up of the right ingredients and does its job correctly, the top and bottom bites would both be tasty.

I am a middle manager :)

We repeated the practice and the second analogy that I could think of was being a middle child.
