Life as we know is all about exploring new feelings wrapped in diverse experiences.
I discovered the magic of Journaling while trying to stay grounded with my emotions. Meditation helped me centre myself. I rediscovered my connection with music through vinyl records. The touch of a physical book expanded my imagination one page at a time.
I questioned my resolve toward a digital-first lifestyle when the analog life made me more human.
Fashion trends are cyclical. Classical music gets retouched and remixed. Like the seasons of the year, we revisit the bygone and add our touch to blend the sense of knowing with the excitement of the presently unknown. The current trend of the digital-first or digital by default approach has been a refreshing trendsetter. The pace at which we are growing begs the question of our state at the finish line if at all there is one in sight.
All this blended together made me wonder about the authenticity of all things analog over the current digital trend.
The intentional, touch and feel of the physical objects reignited the lost feeling.
The journaling habit with pen and paper over an app, the smell of a new book and the sound of turning pages over a kindle, sifting through a collection of vinyl records over Spotify and Apple music and last but not least waking up to the ring of an actual alarm clock felt like a spiritual experience of the everyday kind.
It all gave me a rich feeling of excitement that comes with experiences of new adventures.
I failed to list down even one app or a device that gave me a similar feeling.
One lesson, a very obvious one, is to understand that real life is out there and not in the simulation, however realistic it might be. The fundamental essence of our life is in reinventing our true selves in this analog world.
