I used Dickie Bush & Nicolas Cole (Ship 30 For 30 Digital Writing Course)'s FOR WHO/SO THAT framework in my Atomic Essay #20 - "4 Reasons Why I Think Introverted White-Collar Job Seekers Should Read The 2-Hour Job Search."
1. For WHO: Who are you writing for?
It's not for everybody, it's for one type of person.
I chose to write for Introverted White-Collar Job Seekers instead of Job Seekers, a larger audience. Prior to Ship 30 For 30, I thought I needed to "create something for everyone" and reach the largest possible audience – i.e., every job seeker on X.
How did I choose my WHO? I decided on Introverted White-Collar Job Seekers because both Steve Dalton (the author) and I are introverts. Coaching white-collar job seekers is Dalton’s specialty as a program director and senior career consultant at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.
2. SO THAT: So that they can achieve what outcome?
What's in it for them? What do they want to achieve? What problem does my reader have?
Including the title of the book - The 2-Hour Job Search - in the headline tells would-be readers that they will learn about a book on how to conduct a job search quickly. I address my reader's problem - how do I, an introvert, find a job in less time?
