1 - Guilt leads to shame of who you are.

Temptation offers a quick distraction from the terrible feeling.

Solution - remind yourself of the righteousness Jesus bought for you. It's not hypocritical because you are not trying to get away with sin but to break free from it.

2 - Guilt condemns you.

Condemnation leads to hopelessness. It empowers sin, instead of weakening.

Solution - Jesus came to save you from sin, and give you the power to overcome it. He didn't come to condemn you (John 3:17).

3 - Guilt makes you feel like a hypocrite.

You feel guilty because there's a conflict in your inner values.

Solution - know that feeling bad about sin is a positive feeling proving you're not a hypocrite. It shows that you hate sin. When you do what you love there's no guilt.

4 - Guilt separates you from God.

God is on your side in your fight against sin. He wants you free more than you do yourself.

Solution - don't withdraw away from God because of guilt, but do the opposite - pursue Him even more.

5 - Guilt makes you feel like you're not growing spiritually.

"I've been a Christian for so many years and I still struggle with this..."

Solution - recognize other areas in your walk with god where you grew. being stuck in one area doesn't mean your growth is stagnant.

6 - Guilt wants to prove a point of your failure, not to set you free.

Take the intention of guilt to the end. You'll find that it doesn't want your freedom.

Solution - when you feel guilty, recognize why, ask God for forgiveness, forgive yourself, and - most importantly - move away from guilt as quickly as you can!

7 - Guilt leads to isolation.

The fact that you're struggling with sin doesn't mean you have to withdraw from people who care about you.

Solution - share your struggles with a person you trust and ask for help.
