RAIN: A Transformative Mindfulness Meditation Practice
Jimmy Warden

Rain isn't just precipitation; it's also the name of a mindfulness meditation practice.

Each letter of rain stands for a step of the meditation.

What do the letters stand for?

R = Recognize

A = Accept

I = Investigate (with kindness)

N = Nurture

When should I use RAIN?

RAIN is best used when particular events, places, or personal stories trigger particular emotions. This could be conversations with certain people (self and others), relationship dynamics (with yourself and others), your perception of your workplace, or anything in between.

Why is it helpful?

It's helpful because it allows you to investigate your relationship with your problem. Ultimately, it gives you a bird's eye view of what's happening.

Maybe you discover the conversations you have with yourself cause suffering. Maybe you learn that your relationship with your significant other can be nurtured more. Perhaps you realize your relationship with your job needs a shift in perspective.

With a detached insight, you can fix the problem in a reasonable way.
