There are a lot of books about focus & developing a growth mindset. You probably already know many of the more recent ones. I'll admit, I've read most of them.

But I always gravitate back to the classics, because they have stood the test of time.

The best book on developing the proper mindset I've found is The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale. This book is a classic because it's short (44 pages), has a simple philosophy of focus & transformation, & it's time-tested (published in 1956).

Here are a few key takeaways from the book:

  • We live in a time of opportunity. Never has it been so easy to succeed. If you have a computer & internet, you have everything needed to make millions.

  • Conformity is cowardice. 95% of people fail at life, yet we are told to follow their path. Why would we do this? Instead, take the path of the 5% that are successful.

  • Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal. If you are working toward a predetermined goal & know where you are going, you are a success.

  • You become what you focus on. People who set goals achieve them because they know where they are going, and they focus on reaching the destination.

  • You must be willing to pay the price. Ideas are worthless unless you act on them.

If you are interested in strengthening your mindset, learning the power of focus, or even eliminating imposter syndrome, I can't recommend this book enough.
