Not all lessons are created equal.

Some lessons we learn are small. They are little reminders along the way of what truly matters.

Other lessons are giant. They fundamentally change the course of our entire lives.

Over the past 3 years working in Tech, this is the single most important lesson I've learned about creating something new:

You can create something new using what others have created.

Before I became a Software Developer I thought I would have to build everything myself from stratch.

I never thought about using different tools that have already been built and piecing them together in a way that is unique.

For example, you don't have to build a website from stratch every time. There are pre-built templates that can be customized for specific needs. Putting your own spin on it turns it into something new.

My old way of thinking was one of the biggest blockers to my personal growth.

I would have saved myself a lot of headache if I had learned this sooner.
