Trusted thinking partner to global tech leaders. Make a list of the boldest futures you dare to dream. Create a life you love. I write about leadership.

Situational humility builds psychological safety and you can still be assertive alongside it.

Today I partnered with a senior leader in exploring how Humility and Assertiveness can be equally demonstrated through leadership behaviour.

It seemed like the two were viewed as likely being in conflict.

What does Assertiveness look/sound like?

What does Humility look/sound like?

As you look around you for leadership examples of these, internally, externally, in politics, in the media, what do you recognise?

How does that inform your thinking on this?

How might it be possible to practice both humility and assertiveness in the same situation?

And how does this change with group size?

What if, rather than being in conflict these 2 are complimentary.

If each has a max volume of 10 individually, when practiced together they can be turned up to 12.

How do you view Humility and Assertiveness in leadership?
