I use ChatGPT as a parenting tool. It is helping me inject more creativity in some critical interactions with my kids. Every parent of young children should be aware of this! Here's how... [with a prompt example as well]

👶 I have three kids: 6 months, 3.5 yrs old, and 5.5 yrs old.

😳 My older two children are frequently experiencing new things. They must learn to navigate these experiences by managing their emotions and behaviors.

🏫 For example: my 5.5 yr old began kindergarten this year. This is a big, new, unknown experience.

👨‍🏫 I could sit my kid down and tell him some great principles about facing new experiences. But since when does a lecture really capture the attention of a kid?? How often do kids remember the contents of that style of communication?

🤖 So back to ChatGPT. How has it been a useful tool to help me parent better?

Creative story-telling to demonstrate a key principle.

📝 ChatGPT can create engaging short stories that capture the imagination and attention of my kids.

Over the past week, I've used ChatGPT to craft stories that teach my child how to handle new experiences, adding a touch of personalized enchantment

(Are these stories worthy of being a NYT Best Seller? Haha, probably not. But that's not the point.)

So what does the prompt look like? Here's what I use:

▶️ Create a story about [name of child] the Shark. It should read 3-5 minutes long. Vocabulary and grammar should be appropriate for a 3 year old. It is a bedtime story. If you've already told a story like this, continue building off it but with a new adventure. Make sure to add a relevant title less than 6 words. Add some type of good story arc teaching about dealing with new experiences.

💪 And there you have it: bite-sized, attention grabbing, principle teaching, enjoyable stories that you can share with your kids.

It works.
