Going through a big life transition — whether it’s planned or unexpected — forces us to:
Question what really matters and how we’re living.
Take stock of our routines, roles, and sense of self.
Redefine our lives when things no longer feel the same.
Over the past 18 months, I’ve navigated family challenges, loss, and returning to work after caregiving — and I’ve realized there are universal phases we all go through.
👇 Here’s a breakdown of the phases and how to move through each one:
1️⃣ Disruption: A sudden change that shakes your sense of normalcy, triggering stress, shock, and a need to adjust. Allow yourself to feel the impact without rushing to make sense of it. Focus on small, grounding routines to restore stability.
2️⃣ Unraveling: Realizing that old roles and routines no longer fit, leaving you confused and questioning your identity. Rather than trying to go back, reflect on what parts of your old life still fit and what you’re ready to let go of.
3️⃣ The Void: A space where your old self is gone, but your new self hasn’t formed, creating emptiness and uncertainty. Instead of distracting yourself, take time to be still, listen inward, and consider what you truly need.
4️⃣ The Calling: A small but emerging sense of purpose or direction, driven by the desire to move beyond the past. Nurture this spark by exploring new ideas, talking to inspiring people, and aligning with your Soul State™.
5️⃣ Integration: Actively weaving the lessons from the transition into your life, creating growth and coherence. Stay present with your progress, build habits that match your new self, and celebrate small wins.
6️⃣ Embodiment: Fully living from your new sense of self, where the change is part of your story but no longer defines you. Stay connected to who you’ve become while staying open to future growth.
There’s no quick way through these phases. The more you know where you’re at, the better you can get the support you need.
