How to Stop Procrastinating: Find The Best Techniques For You
Lisa Marie Todd 🚢

Let's explore ways to stop procrastinating.

Take the time to experiment with techniques that can help you avoid procrastination. Once you find what strategies work best, you'll be on your way to becoming more productive and less stressed.

Unfortunately, most people naturally put off tasks and activities they don't enjoy.

One of the biggest reasons people procrastinate is because they feel overwhelmed.

A few other reasons:

  • Not knowing where or how to start

  • Distractions

  • Perfectionism

Procrastination is a common problem, but there are ways to overcome it. The key is finding the best techniques to help you avoid procrastinating and turning them into productive habits.

Here are a few to try:

Reduce your daily To-Do list

It's easy to overestimate what you can get done in a day.

If that sounds like a familiar reality, reduce your To-Do list down your top three task priorities. Then, break each task into smaller, more manageable steps. Doing this will help the process seem less overwhelming.

Remove Distractions and Just Start (Even If You Don't Feel Like It)

If you feel the urge to procrastinate, gather what you need for your task, remove any distractions and get yourself completely ready to start. Then start.

Even if you only work on the task for a few minutes, at least you're moving forward towards completion.

Stop Procrastinating Because of Perfectionism

Completing a task is more important than doing it perfectly.

Striving for perfection often causes more stress. So, let go of your quest for flawlessness and move towards getting the task done.

Which technique will you try the next time you're thinking of procrastinating?
