Here are a couple of things I've found about video templates:
It's easier to shoot video to fit a template than to collect a bunch of videos and then try to find the right template for your footage.
The problem is that the templates are designed with specific types of shots in mind, and it's unlikely that you'll capture all the right shots for a given template by chance.
Even if you capture a lot of footage to improve your odds of matching a template, it can take a lot of time to go through all the footage—to the point where you might as well create a template of your own.
Also, in general, it's best to avoid using templates already well-known within your niche. There comes a point where it's hard to put your own spin on these, and being late to the game in hopping on a trend is not going to suggest you're an innovative creator or brand.
Instead, check out rising templates in other niches and adapt those to your purposes. Just find the template first; then shoot the footage.
