A few years ago this @mdroush tweet caught my attention:

Teach unfamiliar skills with familiar content.

Teach unfamiliar content with familiar skills.

If you want students to fail, teach them unfamiliar content with unfamiliar skills.

This makes so much sense … so why do some profs continue to do the latter?
