Are you confused between Literature notes and Atomic notes? A brief thread 🧵 to clarify the same for the confused ones.

So there is this new type of note which people keep referring to as "Atomic notes". Now if you have taken my course (link in the bio), I have only mentioned three types of notes 1. Fleeting Notes, 2. Literature Notes and 3. Permanent Notes.

So what is an atomic note?

I am not sure where and how "atomic note" term originated, but a literature note is supposed to be atomic. In the sense, it should contain one insight which you come across while reading.

That insight which inspired you while reading should be written in your own words in not more than four or five sentences.

You can call a literature note an atomic note also, but some proponents like include one more step.

They feel their literature notes are not so polished and they would rather add another "note type" called "Atomic Note".

Which is nothing but a polished version of the original literature note (which was probably written in haste).

I personally think it is a good idea to add another layer between your literature note and permanent note especially if you are new to the Zettelkasten system. Let me know if you use Atomic Notes in your creation workflow?
