Stop Trying to Do Everything in One Tool. Youโ€™re Not Cooking With a Swiss Army Knife. ๐Ÿ”ง๐Ÿ“Œ
by Selim Uysal

A productivity trap I see too often?

Trying to run everything through one app.

Notion for tasks, notes, habits, goals, CRM, meal plans, maybe even breathingโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜…

Iโ€™ve been there.

But hereโ€™s the truth: Just because a tool can do something doesnโ€™t mean it should.

๐Ÿง  For habits โ†’ I use a habit tracker
๐Ÿ—‚ For tasks โ†’ Todoist
๐Ÿ“… For calendar โ†’ Google Calendar + Fantastical
๐Ÿ—“๏ธ For scheduling โ†’ Calendly
๐Ÿ“ For notes โ†’ Evernote & Notion
๐Ÿ“ฉ For newsletters โ†’ Beehiiv or ConvertKit
๐Ÿ“ฌ For inbox โ†’ Superhuman
๐ŸŒ For quick landing pages โ†’ Carrd

Sure, some of these can overlap. But when I tried to cram everything into one system?

โŒ It slowed me down.
โŒ It made my workflow messier.
โŒ I spent more time maintaining the system than doing actual work.

Hereโ€™s what Iโ€™ve learned:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Specialized tools exist for a reason.
๐Ÿ‘‰ You donโ€™t use a Swiss army knife to make dinner.
๐Ÿ‘‰ You use a chefโ€™s knife, a garlic press, and an air fryerโ€”each for its own job.

Stop trying to build the perfect all-in-one system.
Start building your systemโ€”with tools that actually serve you.

๐Ÿ›  Whatโ€™s one tool that makes your life 10x easier right now?

The Last Day of Ramadan: A 29-Day Journey of Restraint, Reflection, and Renewal ๐ŸŒ™
by Selim Uysal

Today marks the final day of fasting. 29 days have passed, and I canโ€™t help but feel a mix of gratitude and awe.

Ramadan always teaches me something, but this year, one lesson stood out more than anything else:

The power of delayed gratification.

Not just resisting food or water during the day. But resisting the urge to act on every impulse.

โ˜• Coffee cravings?
๐Ÿงƒ A quick sip of water?
๐Ÿ“ฑ That urge to scroll or react instantly?

Every day of fasting reminded me that I donโ€™t need to say yes to every urge. I can pause, wait, and choose better.

In fact, for more than half the month, I fasted nearly 18 hours a day, without even waking for sahoor. Something that felt impossible became doable with faith, practice, and divine help.

Ramadan has a way of showing us our own potential.
And beyond the physical challenge, thereโ€™s a deeper transformation:
โœ… Rebuilding self-control
โœ… Strengthening faith
โœ… Regulating habits (even if imperfectly)

And now, as Eid approaches, Iโ€™m reminded that the true goal isnโ€™t just to complete Ramadan, but to carry its spirit forward.

What did you take away from this month?
And how do you plan to sustain it?

๐Ÿ•Œ Eid Mubarak to those celebrating. May the lessons of this month stay with us throughout the year.

28 Days of Fasting: How Ramadan Reset My Mind, Body, and Cravings
by Selim Uysal

Today is March 28, and tomorrow marks the final day of Ramadan; a month-long journey that reshaped my habits, thinking, and emotional clarity.

One of the most powerful lessons I've experienced this Ramadan is the practice of delayed gratification.

Fasting isnโ€™t merely about abstaining from food or drink; it's a deep, internal reset that transforms the way you handle desires and impulses.

Earlier this month, I shared insights from TJ Powerโ€™s book โ€œThe Dose Effectโ€, which describes how our behavior is significantly influenced by hormones:

  • Dopamine: Boosts your motivation & sharpens attention.

  • Oxytocin: Enhances connection & builds confidence.

  • Serotonin: Elevates energy levels & stabilizes mood.

  • Endorphins: Strengthens stress tolerance & supports physical fitness.

Ramadan provides an ideal environment to reset these neurochemicals, serving as the ultimate mental, physical, and emotional detox.

Over the past month, I've become increasingly aware of how often we chase immediate satisfaction; snacking impulsively, endlessly scrolling social media, or reacting emotionally without pause.

But fasting retrains your brain. It encourages you to:

โœ… Pause before giving in to cravings
โœ… Reflect on what your body and mind truly need
โœ… Choose consciously what's beneficial in the long run

It's this newfound discipline of delaying instant rewards that I'm determined to carry forward beyond Ramadan.

What about you?
Have you experienced something similar this Ramadan, or through fasting and mindful habits in general?

Finishing Strong: How You End Matters More Than How You Start
by Selim Uysal

We all love fresh starts.

New Yearโ€™s resolutions. Monday mornings. Ambitious goals at the start of Ramadan. Big projects at work.

But letโ€™s be honestโ€”most of us fade halfway through.

That initial spark? It dims. Life happens. We get tired, distracted, or discouraged.

Yet, the true difference-maker isnโ€™t how powerfully we start, but how strongly we finish:

๐Ÿ”น Ramadan is almost overโ€”but after it comes Eid. Can we carry the discipline, mindfulness, and spiritual growth forward?

๐Ÿ”น March is endingโ€”but April begins with new opportunities. Will we build on the momentum, or let goals slip away?

๐Ÿ”น Humanitarian funding is facing serious cutsโ€”but our skills, passion, and experience remain valuable. Maybe itโ€™s time we pivot, explore new sectors, or find innovative ways to contribute.

Life isnโ€™t about perfect starts. Itโ€™s about resilient finishes.

Because finishing strong creates real momentum. It turns short-term enthusiasm into long-term results.

๐Ÿ“Œ Ask yourself:

โ€ข Whatโ€™s one goal you started strong but let slip recently?

โ€ข Whatโ€™s one small action you can take today to finish it stronger?

The year isnโ€™t over. Your story isnโ€™t finished.

Letโ€™s end strong.

What Is an Educational Email Course (EEC) and Why Do You Need One?
by Selim Uysal

Most creators & businesses are still relying on traditional newsletters, free PDFs, or social media followers to grow their audience.

But thereโ€™s a better, smarter way:

Educational Email Courses (EECs).

Hereโ€™s what they are and why they convert better than anything else:

๐Ÿ“Œ What Exactly Is an EEC?

An EEC is a short, automated sequence of emails designed to educate your audience on a specific problem or outcome they care about. Think of it like a structured mini-course delivered via emailโ€”providing immediate value and building trust.

๐Ÿš€ Why Do You Need an EEC?

1. High Conversions:

Traditional newsletter opt-ins? 5โ€“10%.

EEC opt-ins? Up to 70%.

Why? Readers clearly see the immediate value theyโ€™ll get.

2. Built-in Trust & Authority:

When you educate first, you establish yourself as an expert. Readers who trust you become customers who buy from you.

3. Better Audience Relationships:

EECs are interactive, engaging, and deliver value upfront. This deepens your audience connection faster than any PDF or random social media post.

4. Automated Growth & Sales:

EECs arenโ€™t just educationalโ€”they strategically guide subscribers toward a product, community, or consultation. Meaning: more conversions, less effort.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Who Needs an EEC?

โ€ข Coaches & Consultants (to attract clients)

โ€ข SaaS companies (to onboard users)

โ€ข Creators & Authors (to build audience loyalty)

โ€ข Anyone struggling with low website or social conversions

If you donโ€™t have an EEC yet, youโ€™re leaving money and meaningful connections on the table.

Stop missing opportunities. Educate, engage, and convert better.

๐Ÿ’ค Sleep Debt Is Silently Ruining Your Focus, Energy&Mood; Hereโ€™s How to Fix It
by Selim Uysal

Ever felt constantly tired, unfocused, and unproductive despite doing everything โ€œrightโ€? You might be dealing with sleep debt.

Sleep debt is the cumulative effect of not getting enough sleep. Even a few nights of reduced sleep can dramatically affect your focus, decision-making, mood, and creativity. And itโ€™s dangerously easy to overlook.

Recently, I found myself in this exact situation; sleeping late and waking up early, convincing myself I was โ€œfine.โ€ But productivity dropped sharply, decision fatigue kicked in early, and the quality of my work suffered noticeably.

Hereโ€™s how I got back on track:

1. Recognize the Debt: Acknowledge that feeling tired all the time isnโ€™t normal; itโ€™s your bodyโ€™s alarm signal. Also you can track your sleep; I'm using Sleep Cycle and Rise Sleep for detailed analytics, sleep recommendations and energy monitoring.

2. Catch Up Strategically: Add just 30-60 extra minutes of sleep per night or take short, restorative naps to recover without disturbing your schedule.

3. Consistency Over Quantity: Regular sleep patterns (even if slightly shorter) trump erratic, long sleeps. Consistency boosts your energy, clarity, and productivity.

Sleep isnโ€™t optional; itโ€™s foundational.

Pay back your sleep debt, and watch your productivity and energy soar.

Have you experienced sleep debt? How do you cope?

๐Ÿง  The Upper Limit Problem: Why We Sabotage Our Own Success
by Selim Uysal

Ever noticed how, just when things are going really well, something weird happens?

You get a big opportunity and suddenly procrastinate.
You have a great week, then pick a fight, get sick, or self-destruct.

Thatโ€™s not bad luck.
Thatโ€™s what The Big Leap calls the Upper Limit Problem.

Gay Hendricks describes it as our subconscious resistance to success, happiness, and abundance, a hidden thermostat that limits how much good we think we can handle.

We all carry old beliefs like:

๐Ÿ”น โ€œIโ€™m not good enough.โ€
๐Ÿ”น โ€œI donโ€™t deserve this.โ€
๐Ÿ”น โ€œIf I succeed, others will feel bad.โ€

So when life gets too good, our internal alarm goes off, and we subconsciously sabotage it to get back to โ€œnormal.โ€

๐Ÿ›‘ This shows up in:

โ€ข Procrastination after momentum
โ€ข Sudden anxiety during progress
โ€ข Relationship drama when things are peaceful

The solution?

๐Ÿ‘‰ Expand your capacity for success.
Catch yourself in the act and say:
โ€œIโ€™m upper-limiting right now. Iโ€™m allowed to feel this good.โ€

Hendricks says: โ€œEach of us has an inner thermostat setting that determines how much love, success, and creativity we allow ourselves to enjoy.โ€

If you want to grow, you donโ€™t just need better habits.
You need to raise that setting.

Youโ€™re Not Lazy; Youโ€™re Just Living on Other Peopleโ€™s Agendas
by Selim Uysal

If you feel scattered or unmotivated, I want to offer a reframe:

Youโ€™re not lazy.
Youโ€™re just stuck responding to other peopleโ€™s priorities.

Itโ€™s easy to confuse exhaustion with laziness.
But most of the time, what drains us isnโ€™t the work itself;
itโ€™s not having a clear direction in the first place.

Hereโ€™s what Iโ€™ve realized:

๐Ÿ”น When you lack clarity, everything feels urgent.
Your inbox becomes your to-do list.
Your day gets filled by other peopleโ€™s requests.

๐Ÿ”น When you lack structure, everything feels chaotic.
You scroll. You multitask. You react.
But deep down, you feel misaligned.

๐Ÿ”น When you lack ownership, even success feels empty.
You hit goalsโ€ฆ that werenโ€™t even yours to begin with.

This week, Iโ€™ve been thinking about systems again.
How even in our personal lives, just like in organizations or the bigger systems,
the absence of clarity invites manipulation.

If you donโ€™t know where youโ€™re going, someone else will choose the path for you.

So today, I have one question for you (and me):

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Whose agenda are you living on?
And how can you reclaim just one hour for your own?

Resilience in Uncertain Times: How to Stay Strong When Life Feels Unstable
by Selim Uysal

๐Ÿ’ก โ€œDo not pray for an easy life; pray for the strength to endure a difficult one.โ€ โ€“ Bruce Lee

Some days test us more than others. Unexpected events, challenges beyond our control, and moments of deep uncertainty can make it feel like the ground is shifting beneath us.

But resilience isnโ€™t about pretending everything is fine. Itโ€™s not about blind optimism or ignoring pain. True resilience is about finding a way forward without losing yourself in the process.

What Real Resilience Looks Like

โœ… Itโ€™s not just endurance; itโ€™s adaptability.
Resilience isnโ€™t about pushing through at all costs. Itโ€™s about knowing when to rest when to pivot, and when to persist. Strength isnโ€™t just about holding on; itโ€™s also about knowing when to let go and adjust.

โœ… Itโ€™s built on small, daily actions.
Resilience isnโ€™t something you suddenly develop in a crisis; itโ€™s cultivated over time. The habits we build in ordinary moments (reflection, discipline, consistency) prepare us for the difficult ones.

โœ… Itโ€™s about focusing on whatโ€™s in your control.
There will always be things beyond our influence. The key is channeling energy into what we can change: our mindset, actions, and how we respond to challenges.

No matter whatโ€™s happening in the world around us, resilience is what helps us stay grounded.

The Biggest Myth About Writing a Newsletter (And Why Most People Get It Wrong)
by Selim Uysal

If youโ€™ve ever thought about starting a newsletter but held back because โ€œI donโ€™t have a big audience yetโ€โ€”youโ€™re not alone.

This is one of the biggest misconceptions that stops people from writing online.

The reality? Newsletters donโ€™t grow because you have an audience. They grow because you write.

Most successful newsletters started with zero subscribers. The difference? The writers hit publish consistently, long before anyone was reading.

What Actually Grows a Newsletter?

โœ… Consistency Over Perfection
Most people worry too much about making it perfect before they even start. But perfection kills momentum. Every issue you publish makes you a better writerโ€”and attracts more readers.

โœ… Writing First, Audience Later
You donโ€™t โ€œearnโ€ an audience and then start writing. You write first, and the audience follows. Readers subscribe when they see that you have something worth following.

โœ… Trust Over Viral Growth
Sure, going viral might get you a spike in subscribersโ€”but the real success comes from the trust and habit you build with your readers over time.

Think about your favorite newsletters. You probably donโ€™t read them because they had a million subscribers from day one. You read them because they show up consistently and deliver value.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Your Turn

The Power of Self-Awareness (and a Brutal Roast from ChatGPT)
by Selim Uysal

Self-awareness is key to growth. And sometimes, you need a brutally honest mirror to show you whatโ€™s holding you back.

Yesterday, I decided to put this to the test. I asked ChatGPT for an unfiltered reality check. I entered this as a prompt;

"Based on everything you know about me, roast me, and don't hold back. Say it in slang."

Letโ€™s just sayโ€ฆ it didnโ€™t hold back. It was tough but eye-opening.

Sometimes, we think weโ€™re making progress, but our habits, procrastination, or blind spots hold us back. A little dose of tough love; even from an AI, can shine a light on the things we already know but choose to ignore.

๐Ÿ”น Awareness is the first step. We canโ€™t change what we donโ€™t acknowledge.
๐Ÿ”น Self-reflection is powerful, but accountability is key. Recognizing patterns is one thing, breaking them is another.
๐Ÿ”น External perspectives help. Whether itโ€™s a mentor, a friend, or even AI, an outside lens can reveal what we overlook.

If you feel stuck, hereโ€™s a challenge:
Whatโ€™s one habit you KNOW is holding you back? Whatโ€™s a simple step you can take today to change it? Whatโ€™s stopping you from actually doing it?

You can also use ChatGPT for structured self-improvement. Ask:
โœ… โ€œWhat are the top 3 things holding me back?โ€
โœ… โ€œHow can I improve my productivity based on my habits?โ€
โœ… โ€œHelp me create a simple daily/weekly plan for [goal]โ€

But donโ€™t take AI too seriously. If youโ€™re really struggling, seek guidance from a professional. AI can provide insights, but real change comes from action.

Why Do We Sabotage Ourselves? Understanding the Late-Night Trap
by Selim Uysal

Lately, Iโ€™ve been struggling with a self-sabotaging habit; staying up too late and missing sahoor.

I know this is harmful to my fasting, my energy, and my overall health. Yet, I still find myself scrolling, watching, or doing unnecessary things instead of sleeping early.

Fasting has made me more aware of how much sleep impacts my focus, but self-discipline isnโ€™t about food; itโ€™s about making choices that support your well-being.

๐Ÿ’ก Why We Do It:
1๏ธโƒฃ Revenge Bedtime Procrastination โ€“ Staying up late because it feels like your only โ€œme time.โ€
2๏ธโƒฃ Dopamine Loops โ€“ Scrolling, watching videos, or engaging in stimulating activities that override sleep signals.
3๏ธโƒฃ Short-Term Comfort Over Long-Term Benefits โ€“ The brain craves immediate pleasure, even when it comes at a cost.
4๏ธโƒฃ Lack of Boundaries โ€“ No clear nighttime routine leads to unstructured, extended wakefulness.

โณ How to Stop It:
โœ… Set a non-negotiable wind-down time (e.g., screen-free after 10 PM).
โœ… Make sleep preparation enjoyableโ€”low lighting, reading, and relaxing activities.
โœ… Use the 5-Minute Ruleโ€”tell yourself, Iโ€™ll just get in bed for 5 minutes and see how I feel.
โœ… Remind yourself: The way I feel tomorrow depends on what I do tonight.

โœจ Whatโ€™s one habit you know you need to fix but keep delaying?
