Few designers have consistently influenced my life as much as Tobias van Schneider.
He is a prolific designer who has built amazing products, including mymind. If you haven’t yet, you should definitely follow his work.
Here are the 3 biggest impacts he’s had on me:
1. His podcast motivated me to learn code
In 2016, his podcast NTMY featured Pieter Levels, who built 12 startups in 12 months.
This episode fascinated me with the intersection of design and code. Inspired by this, I decided to learn coding.

2. His book motivated me to move to NYC
About the same time, Tobias published “How to Move to New York: The Guide”.
Honestly, I don’t recall details, but it made me determined to study design in NYC.
This dream came true when I combined my design and coding skills at @ITP_NYU.

3. His "total work of art" concept motivates me again
Last week, Tobias shared his passion for designing everything across disciplines for his products.
This article reignited the excitement I felt when I started coding and building. My goal might be different now, but I still want to design something of my own.
