How to Stay Relentless as a Writer Building an Online Business (Even When Nothing’s Working)
by Nishtar

The difference between writers who succeed in business and those who don’t is simple:

They don’t stop writing.

It’s the most obvious strategy—and the most important.

If you keep writing and improving your craft, compounding eventually kicks in.

Success becomes almost inevitable.

You just have to outlast everyone.

This isn’t just true in writing.

It’s true in relationships, careers, and business.

But staying consistent is hard—unless you can answer one question honestly:

Why do you write?

There’s a long gap between starting your writing business and seeing results.

While compounding takes time, your inner drive keeps you going.

That drive comes from your why.

A writer is only as strong as their philosophy.

Hard work will get you there—but only if you know where “there” is.

To find your why, ask yourself:

  • What kind of life do I want—and what does success look like beyond the superficial?

  • Why am I building this business—and what would make it worth it, even if it takes years?

  • Who do I want to help—and why do I care?

  • What skills or problems would I work on even if I weren’t paid?

  • What do I want to be known for?

Now, condense your answers into a few clear sentences.

Speak in the present tense—as if it’s already true.

Because real behavior change begins with identity change.

Here’s mine:

Writing is my path to self-awareness.

I’m building a writing business to live a life of depth and freedom—calm in spirit, fit in body, focused in mind, generous in relationships, wise with time, and useful with wealth.

This work fuels me because it sharpens my thinking, challenges my growth, and lets me follow my curiosity while making a real difference.

I’m not just here to sell—I’m here to resonate, to transform, and to write something that lasts.

This work is my path to becoming the man I want to be: a present father, a clear thinker, a persuasive writer, and a calm, devoted creator.
