Building a calm, focused life as a dad, doctor, and digital storyteller | Sharing systems for parenting, health, and storytelling
You’re stuck in a loop of overthinking because you lack a clear strategy.
Strategy is the prioritization of limited resources against unlimited options.
It’s how you decide what to do—and just as importantly—what not to do.
That’s why your single most important decision is choosing your top priority each day.
Step 1: Choose the Right Category
As a busy dad, you're managing it all—fitness, faith, family, finances, friends, fun.
But you can’t do everything. You need one domino that makes the rest easier.
For most people, fitness seems obvious. Without health, everything suffers.
But there’s one thing even more foundational: Peace of mind.
Without it, you can’t enjoy your health, support your family, or focus on your goals.
Peace of mind is the root. And it lives in the category of Faith.
Step 2: Focus Within the Category
Faith might include prayer, meditation, journaling, yoga, etc.
Don’t try to do all of them. That’s how overthinking creeps back in.
Instead, ask:
What’s the one practice that makes the rest easier or unnecessary?
Choose it. Commit to it.
Step 3: Act Before You’re Ready
Once you know your most important goal and one daily action, take the next step:
Gather only the information you need to begin.
Take action to completion—don’t switch goals mid-way.
Move to the next priority once done.
If you don’t finish something, roll it to tomorrow. Keep the flow going.
This is the way out of overthinking: Clarity → Focus → Momentum.
