Learning About Feedback?
Ellen Taaffe 🚢

I love learning about Feedback because it can be a superpower for leaders in a world where feedback is rare, vague, and frequently biased. Most people feel they don't get enough. At the same time, many fear giving it because they don't want to upset others or be seen in a bad light.

Here's the best way to get started:

  • Read This Book: Radical Candor: Be a Kick-Ass Boss Without Losing Your Humanity by Kim Scott will help you to see that we can be both caring and clear in how we give feedback, which is what people really want and need.

  • Read this Article: HBR's Find the Coaching in Criticism by Sheila Heen and Douglas Stone is a must-read resource for understanding why it's so hard to get feedback and how that awareness can help us gain from it.

  • Listen To This Podcast: If you want to hear my advice on giving tactful feedback to help people improve, listen to The Art of Giving Good Feedback by Kellogg Insight. https://insight.kellogg.northwestern.edu/article/podcast-the-art-of-giving-good-feedback

Here's to all of us getting better at feedback!
