In the kickoff session, Dickie or Cole said something like, "if you stick with this, it will transform your life forever".
And I was like yeah yeah, let's not get ahead of ourselves, its just writing.
Now that the 30 days are over, I have realized that these guys are 100% aware that they are luring people in with a daily writing habit, and tricking all of us into adopting the mindset of entrepreneurs.
I could not be more grateful for it.
The first week: "pressure makes diamonds"
The first week was hands down mentally painful.
I DID NOT want to write, but by some power I would gather enough energy to slog through an essay, every day for 8 days straight.
It was scary to share my convictions with strangers, and I was completely overwhelmed trying to navigate the sheer infinity of Twitter.
But in the midst of it all, I had incredibly new and rewarding experiences. Here are there, people left me comments saying thank you, and good job.
I did the same for others and it felt even better.
Second and third weeks: balance and kindness
My brain and spirit were tired from pushing so much, and I felt blocked, so I gave myself permission to miss days.
But every time I took a break, I'd return energized and ready to publish again.
This was beginning to feel like a thing I did. If I wasn't shipping, I was wasting potential.
Fourth week: I am burning with excitement for what I might discover and do next
Something clicked for me yesterday.
While I have been writing pretty aimlessly, a signal broke through and gave me an idea of how I might be able to provide more value through my content.
The craziest part, the frameworks Dickie and Cole drove home have given me tools to test this and get feedback. I feel incredibly empowered to try out an idea, for the first time ever!
My essay count is lower, but I am not worried because I know I will be shipping forever, for the benefit of myself and (most importantly) others.
Thank you Dickie and Cole, and the rest of the ship30 crew, you have built a brilliant business and it was an honor to take part.
