The Natural Tremor Mechanism

Have you ever seen an animal, like a gazelle, shake itself off after escaping danger (such as a lion) in a nature documentary?

That shaking response is a natural tremor mechanism, designed to release tension and restore calm after a stress (fight/flight/freeze) response.

We humans have this same mechanism—it’s built into our nervous system. But in today’s world, we have forgotten and suppressed it.

Social conditioning has taught us to stay in control, not show fear, and push through stress. Over time, we have lost touch with this natural way of "resetting" and supporting ourselves.

Unlike “top-down” approaches, like talk therapies, TRE® is a “bottom-up” method.

It works with the body to regulate the autonomic nervous system and address instinctual survival responses governed by the "reptilian brain"—which we can't tap into through the cognitive mind.

How does TRE® work?

You're guided through a series of 7 simple exercises designed to warm up, gently stretch and fatigue your lower body's muscles.

After the initial 6 exercises, you’ll lie down to further activate and allow your natural tremors to come through.

It activates your body’s natural healing process to release tension, calm restlessness, and relieve stress and unresolved emotions.

This can be led in-person or online by a certified TRE® Provider for initial guidance, spaceholding and safety.

The exercises are easy to learn, can be practiced on your own, and its effects are can often be felt immediately.
