I write about Tarot and Divination for those who think they aren't "psychic".

Did you know you don't have to see Tarot cards to read them?
Tarot Underground

And you don't have to be psychic either.

But you can practice and develop psychic skills using this Tarot reading technique.

How to read Tarot without looking

I practice the blind reading when I read for myself and have a question that is very difficult to emotionally disengage from.

This technique is very helpful for such situations, but you can blind read whenever you like.

Blind read in 6 steps

1. Write 3 questions you want to know the answer to on 3 different pieces of paper and place in 3 separate envelopes

2. Shuffle the cards and place 1-3 cards in each envelope.

3. Shuffle the envelopes and arrange in front of you.

4. Take the envelopes, one at a time and do a reading for each one (see below)

5. Write down the reading and place in the envelope along with the cards you drew.

6. After you have finished the reading for each envelope, open to reveal the question you answered and corresponding card(s)

But what do I focus on without cards?

So right about now you are asking if you aren't looking at cards then what are you doing? How do you do a reading without cards???

Close your eyes and use your mind's eye. Start imagining or let images come to you. Write these images and impressions down.

Use all 5 senses.

- does something feel hot or cold? heavy or light?

- what does it look like? draw a quick sketch

- do you hear anything? is anyone talking? do you hear wind in the trees? scary music?

- taste and smell are not dominant, but they may show up

Spend 10 minutes or less on this and then move to the next envelope.

You might want to jot down if you think this is a "yes" or "no" if you feel like you can make that call.

Evaluating your blind reading exercises

First of all, be patient with yourself.

This process is difficult for most of us, myself included.

Your readings most likely won't make a lot of sense, but there will be some nuggets. I've found that my sketches often illustrate the card or part of the card inside the envelope.

wheat from the chaff

The way I separate the wheat from the chaff is there's a certain way the mind's eye image feels in my body. I know this is probably a "hit".

But I also know that my rational mind can jump in and make up some interpretation that will throw me off the trail.

It's a balancing act. I fall off the beam a lot.

I don't consider myself psychic.

I probably never will be psychic, but I enjoy this blind reading practice.
